Ingleby Barwick’s Colin Peacock knew he had to pull out all the stops to keep his hopes of a fifth title alive in round 5 of the SRH-motorsport-photography.com ironman series. Even when faced with pressure from 2 former race winners he kept his cool in changeable autumn conditions to pull off a masterly victory.
Qualifying 3rd behind James Skyers (Woking) and Andrew Worley (Thirsk) he already knew this race was could be an uphill task. From the start the trio pulled away from the pack and swapped places lap after lap.

A brief shower mid race transformed the outook of the race as all of the leading drivers spun on the first corner whilst lapping a backmarker, Peacock made the quickest recovery whilst Skyers and Worley were off track he made a bolt for the chequered flag and a 13 second victory margin.
Chris Roe (Redcar) mastered class B with a fine fourth on the grid and also in the race, although he was chased home hard by series returnee Paul Blackwell (York) by a mere 0.1 of a second. Malcolm McPhie (Hutton Rudby) , Bob McKenzie (Skelton) and Jason Smith (Leyburn) rounded off the points scoring positions.
With a series record entry of 31 karts on track and with drivers from as far afield as Woking, Glasgow, Milton Keynes & Sheffield this highly competitive local championship is defying the recession.
